We have worked with local authorities and manufacturing industries to digitalise whole archives of analogue tapes and films. We have also worked with companies from the insurance industry on restoring damaged photographs, negatives, and 35mm slides.
We offer a full end-to-end solution, including capture, digitalisation, restoration, and delivery. Best of all we are fully insured with £10m public liability insurance.
Repairs
We can repair anything from mouldy tapes to torn tapes. We carefully inspect every tape before processing it, ensuring there is no risk of permanent damage to your tapes during conversion. Although tape breakage is still possible, we have facilities in our studio to repair and re-join tapes and film on site.
Digitising
As standard, we capture all tapes in 10-bit uncompressed 4:2:2 video – perfect for delivering in a multitude of formats, including television broadcast. We capture SD tapes at 26 MB/s or 93 GB/h and we capture 1080p footage at 132 MB/s or 463 GB/h (if played back in PAL at 25 fps).
Restoration
Though video tapes generally require very little restoration work, film can lose its colour over time. We analyse and then sympathetically re-colour all footage once captured.
Delivery
We can deliver in nearly any format (including ProRes, H.264 MP4, H.265 HEVC, etc.). As part of a standard service, we supply both the high-resolution uncompressed files and low-resolution MP4 files. The latter are ideal for previewing internally.
In 2020, we increased our studio capacity to enable us to capture up to 300+ hours of footage per day. Later this year, we will be expanding this further enabling us to capture up to 500 hours of footage per day.
In every archival transfer, we can include a spreadsheet detailing every file, its contents, and its timestamps. This enables you to load the content into your existing content management system (CMS). If you don’t have an existing CMS, we can provide you with a password-protected online portal (including video hosting, which enables end users to search, view, and download content directly).
