During our nearly 15 years of transferring old media we have completed jobs for many famous faces; TV stars, film stars, musicians, tv/film directors, and even MPs. We have also been involved in restoring videos/films for television/film productions. Many of these jobs are under non-disclosure agreements, which prevent us from writing about them. For privacy reasons, we would never name the famous faces we’ve had through our doors, and we would never ask them if we could name them as we respect everybody’s privacy.
However, back in May we were approached by a production company working on a new docu-film about a sporting legend…Peter Schmeichel…and we are able to tell you all about it!
Our task: Cleaning, restoring and transferring original tv camera tapes from some of Peter’s big international matches. Initially we thought this would be an ordinary job, however when the tapes arrives 95% of them were covered in mould, stuck together and complete unplayable…oh and they were the only copies!
The process was long, very long, but we managed to clean every tape until they were playable and transferable. To give you an idea on how much work is involved each tape when unwound is 6.38 Old Trafford pitches long. Times that by more than 35 tapes and that is 23.5 km of tape, or 223.3 lengths of Old Trafford!
The files have been sent off to the production company who have now editing them into their docu-film and we cannot wait to see the final result!
The two-part documentary is titled “Schmeichel” will premiered last night (February 9, 2025) on Sky Showtime. A short trailer is available here:
